In 2017 the issue of Honorary Consul of the Republic of Korea in the Tyumen Region appointment was discussed during the visit of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea delegation to Tyumen. The Governor of the Tyumen region, Vladimir Yakushev, recommended Igor Samkaev to this position. During the meeting Plenipotentiary Minister HA Te Yok and the Governor of the Tyumen region Vladimir Yakushev underlined mutual interest in further partnership.
On September 4, 2018, the patent of Honorary Consul of the Republic of Korea in the Tyumen Region was presented to Igor Samkaev. The Honorary Consul will be charged of friendly relations development between South Korea and the Tyumen region, promotion of experience and personnel exchange, organization of forums and meetings at different levels. The Honorary Consul is interested in protection of the rights and interests of Korean citizens, including individuals and legal entities, as well as cooperation with the region government.
